Year after year, past and present leaders of the Central Region of the Order of the Arrow gather to review past successes, present problems, and future plans. In spite of the struggles faced throughout 2020, the Central Region Alumni Gathering still proceeded as planned, meeting virtually on September 12th. Over the course of their meeting, a wide variety of topics were presented and discussed.
Region Chief Patrick McInerney opened the meeting by unveiling the Central Region Brand and discussed the success of Momentum: Launch. This event was a three-day online event for all Arrowmen, and we exceeded our registration goal by over three times the number of registered Arrowmen.
Patrick also unveiled the many facets of the Region Committee. Our Community Service sub-committee will focus on developing service projects at the National Leadership Seminar, identifying the best practices of service found within lodges, and continuing to support service at all levels of the Order of the Arrow. Our Communications Team will continue to facilitate the goals of the region chief and the region committee by engaging with lodges and sections, and helping to develop lodge and section communications teams. Our Training sub-committee will continue to focus on developing the National Leadership Seminar in the Central Region, and is working on a program known as Endeavor, which will serve to supplement the normal LLD structure in a virtual environment. Our High Adventure subcommittee will continue to work with lodges and sections to promote the amazing programs available at the National High Adventure Bases through the Order of the Arrow. Our Lodge Support and Section Support committees will continue to focus on the development of the leadership at all levels of our program. Our Trading Post subcommittee will continue to grow the apparel and gear offerings available to all Arrowmen throughout the region. Our Technology team is continuing to modernize the software used throughout the region, and is extending their support to manage websites for all sections and lodges. Finally, our Logistics subcommittee provides support for all region events, both virtual and in-person. Together, this large committee will continue to support the many events of the Central Region and will work closely with sections and lodges to develop their talents further.
As we continue to adjust to COVID-19, we have continued to adjust our inductions processes. From introducing alternative attire for ceremonies, the introduction of ceremonial medallions, the changes in requirements for election eligibility for youth and adults, or even the introduction of virtual elections, we have continued to innovate in the face of adversity.
As 2020, and the term of Region Chief Patrick McInerney, draws to a close, the past and present leaders of the Central Region will continue to perform our roles to support the Arrowmen throughout our region.
