Recap of the May 19 Council of Chiefs Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended our May COC and special election. The virtual meeting began at 7:00 PM EDT with an opening led by Section Chief Joey Grabill.

The first business item was the special elections with the purpose of selecting a Section Vice Chief and Secretary.

We now welcome our new Section C-6A Vice Chief, Luke S. He is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow hailing from Kiondaga Lodge. He has held the position of Lodge Vice Chief of Finance and currently serves as Lodge Chief of Kiondaga Lodge and on the Technology Team of the Central Region. He has been involved in the OA for five years, but when he’s not serving with the OA you’ll see him camping with his Scout Troop. Please join us in welcoming Luke!

Please also join us in congratulating Javier for his election to Section C-6A Secretary! Javier, an Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member of Nischa Chuppecat Lodge has been involved in the OA for 2 years. He has held the positions of Chapter Secretary and Chapter Chief, and currently serves as a communications chair for his lodge. He is also involved in soccer and running outside of Scouts. Please welcome Javier!

Following the special election, we moved along in our new business to the proposal for Section Conclave of 2021. Kiondaga Lodge proposed their site of Old Ben Scout Reservation for the weekend of April 16-18, 2021. The proposed location and date passed unanimously followed by a discussion regarding the onsite COC meeting to be held in the fall.

Next, Joey presented information regarding Momentum 2020 and polled lodges regarding their members’ interest in the event at the Summit. Then, Section Adviser Bryan led a discussion regarding dates for the upcoming section calendar. Look out for updates coming soon by email and on the section website.

The meeting was concluded with an Open Forum and adjourned at 8:31 PM EDT.

Luke Schweickart is the Technology Lead for the Central Region. From southern Indiana, Luke is a Vigil Honor member of Kiondaga Lodge and serves as the Lodge Chief. He studies at Signature School and in his free time you will see him enjoying the outdoors, taking pictures, or working with his Scout troop.
