Dear Arrowmen of Section C-6A,
It is on behalf of the Section Leadership Team that I announce the unprecedented and heartbreaking decision to cancel our 2020 Section C-6A Conclave scheduled for April 17-19 due to the novel coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. This was not our desire, but we must respect and adhere to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for mass gatherings. Although canceling our much-anticipated event is hard, the safety and security of our members and their loved ones are most important at this time.
All Arrowmen who have registered for Conclave will receive a full refund. Section Staff Adviser Tyler Givens will be in touch with you in this regard. We will still plan to elect new Section Officers during the timeframe of the originally planned Conclave, more details on this will be forthcoming. An altered Conclave patch is still being planned on a pre-order basis, more information will be sent out soon on this as well.
Although our Conclave cannot happen this year, we are planning a new National OA-branded event this Fall—the ACT Conference (Act, Collaborate, Thrive) which is open to all Arrowmen. Although the program is aimed at lodge leadership, we will work to expand this opportunity to all Arrowmen and incorporate a ton of fun as well; a unique opportunity to come together in Brotherhood as a Section outside of our usual Conclave environment. Save the date for ACT: November 20-22, 2020.
During this uncertain and concerning time in our world, we are reminded and inspired by the words of Kitchkinet in our Pre-Ordeal Ceremony:
“This Ordeal is but a shadow of the rigors of the journey, but its joys also are shadows of the brighter, greater beauty in a life of cheerful service.”
Allow me to take a moment before I close to express sincere thanks to the lodge chiefs, conclave vice chiefs, and advisers from our member lodges who have put in a lot of hard work to prepare for a wonderful Conclave. Your cheerful service has not gone unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. Also, please join me in thanking three young men who have served our section very well this past year and are owed a debt of gratitude for their cheerful service to our Section and our Order: Section Chief Garland Kent, Section Vice Chief Joey Grabill, and Section Secretary Alex Spanenberg. Thank you all for your hard work.
Be well my friends, until we can gather again in brotherhood,
Section C-6A Adviser
