New Section Chief Bio – Joe Ward

Joe Ward is a Vigil Honor member for Tamegonit Lodge and an Eagle Scout from Troop 83 in Olathe, Kansas. He received the Founders Award at Tamegonit’s 2019 winter banquet. He has served on camp staff for three years at camp Naish and plans to work at Philmont Scout Ranch this summer. He has attended both Philmont, Northern Tier, and Sea Base. He served on Operation Arrow staff at The National Jamboree; he served as a Trek Guide. Joe has served in many positions in his lodge, chapter, and troop. He has served on the membership committee for Tamegonit Lodge for 3 years. In 2015 Joe served as the Arrowtour Committee Chair for his lodge. Joe served as the Vice-Chief of Administration for his lodge and served as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster in his troop. He was a member of the National Honor Society at his school. Joe was the 2017/2018 Section Vice-Chief and the 2018/2019 Vice-Chief: he was in charge of the training and activity committees. He was elected as Section Chief for the 2019/2020 year and has many plans for the Rally that will be hosted by Wah-Sha-She Lodge.

Joe is a 2nd-semester freshman at Kansas State University. His major is Park Management and Conservation with a possible secondary major of Natural Resource and Environmental Science. He also plans to pursue a Leadership Studies minor. He will be serving as the Vice President of the Society of Outdoor Recreation Professionals (SORP), which was previously known as George Wright Society (GWS), for the next school year.
