That’s it folks! Just like that another great summer has come and gone! It was another great year for the Order of the Arrow’s High Adventure program! With amazing experiences and stellar reviews across the board we are already itching for next year.
For some, like Takhone Lodge Chief Curtis Propst, it was a first time experience nothing short of amazing! This is what Curtis has to say, “I’ve attended National Jamboree, National Leadership Seminar, NOAC, and many other events and I can confidently say OA high Adventure, like the one based at Northern Tier in Minnesota, is the best Scouting adventure I’ve ever been on!”
Furthermore Curtis went on to talk about the bonds he forged along the way, “On my boundary waters voyage I made friends as far away as Central Texas, South Mississippi, St. Louis area of Missouri, Northern Illinois, and Eastern Virginia. We all started as complete strangers and by the end of the week, we were truly brothers!”
With membership changes this last year we were happy to see new members of our Order join on the many treks and trips that took place. Promotions Adviser of the OAHA Program, Ted Weiland, commented on this summer saying, “It was an exciting year with the expansion of the OAHA program to include women foremen and female participants!”
Summer of 2019 is in the books and we can’t wait for next year! So whether you’re hiking at Philmont on a trail crew, trailblazing the Summit, paddling the boundary waters, or repairing coral reefs we look forward to seeing you at a high adventure base in 2020!
