Biography:

Thom was inducted into the Order of the Arrow during the Summer of 1970 as a member of the Blackhawk Lodge # 94 of the Piasa Bird Council. After his induction, he became active in the Lodge leadership serving as the Lodge Secretary and Lodge Chief. In 1974 he received his Vigil Honor. In 2005 he was asked to serve as the Associate Advisor of the Kishkakon Lodge # 32, of the Trails West Council where in 2007 he took over as the Lodge Advisor. During this tenure he was one of the adults working with the youth committee to successfully consolidate the new OA Lodge Nisha Kittan # 114 of the Lewis and Clark Council.

Thom is an Eagle Scout and the receipt of the Silver Beaver Award. During his Scouting tenure he has served on various District and Council Committees. He has also served in the role of Cubmaster, Scout master, Commissioner and District Commissioner. As a youth he attended the 1973 National Jamboree as the SPL and 1975 World Jamboree as part of the Order of the Arrow Service Team. He has also attended the last three National Jamborees and NOAC.s. He is also an active member of Optimist International, a youth oriented service organization.
